Michigan Governor Whitmer Endorses Kamala Harris for President: Here’s Her Full Statement

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer officially endorses Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party’s nominee to succeed Joe Biden.

Whitmer released a lengthy statement Monday morning, a day after Biden decided to drop out of the race while recommending his vice president as his successor.

Today, I am thrilled to endorse Kamala Harris for President of the United States.

In Vice President Harris, Michigan voters have a presidential candidate they can count on: She will focus on cutting their costs, restoring their freedoms, bringing jobs and supply chains back to the U.S. from abroad, and building an economy that works for working people. She’s a former prosecutor, a champion of reproductive freedom, and I know she has Michigan’s back.

This is in stark contrast to Donald Trump, a convicted felon who incited violence, overturned Roe, attacked our auto industry that hard-working families depend on, left office after 100,000 manufacturing jobs were lost, and bankrupted our economy during his last term in the White House.

Vice President Harris has my full support.

So, Michigan, let’s get to work. We can’t let Donald Trump anywhere near the White House.

Let’s go!

Whitmer is supporting Harris, along with other Democratic governors such as Gavin Newsome, Tony Evers, Josh Shapiro and JB Pritzker.

Whitmer is considered a possible candidate for the office of Vice President if Harris wins the nomination.
