Brazilian singer Ayres Sasaki dies after hugging a wet fan during a live concert

Sasaki died almost instantly after hugging a drenched concertgoer during his performance on stage at the Solar Hotel in Salinopolis, Brazil.

Brazilian singer Ayres Sasaki is no more. Sasaki, 35, died of electrocution during a live performance on July 13 in Salinopolis Para, Brazil, People reported, citing Brazilian news site Istoe Gente.

Sasaki died almost instantly after hugging a drenched concertgoer during his performance at the Solar Hotel in Salinopolis, Brazil. The contact between the two triggered a jolt in a nearby cable, causing a fatal electric shock.

According to the Para Civil Police, witnesses have given statements and authorities have requested expert opinions, Istoe Gente reported via translation. The Solar Hotel released a statement on Sunday, July 14, clarifying that the establishment is cooperating with authorities in the investigation.

“We are fully committed to providing support to his family and taking the necessary measures. We reiterate our commitment to fully cooperate with the relevant authorities in properly clarifying the events,” the hotel’s official Instagram account said.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with Ayres Sasaki’s family and friends during this difficult time,” the statement concluded. Following his death, several fans expressed their shock in the comments section of his pinned posts and in the last post on Instagram. He leaves behind his wife Mariana, to whom he was married for 11 months.
