Modi criticizes opposition ahead of budget session and calls for “attempt to suppress Prime Minister’s voice”

“You must have seen that in the first session of Parliament, an attempt was made to suppress the voice of the government, which was elected with a majority of 1.4 billion people of the country. For two and a half hours, an attempt was made to suppress the voice of the Prime Minister. The people of the country have sent us for the country and not for the party. This Parliament is for the country, not for the party…” Modi said, referring to the slogans he raised during the debate on the motion of thanks to the President’s address in the House.

He tried to reach out to the opposition benches and urged them to put aside their negativity and old bitterness, to work for development in the next five years and to cut across party lines.

“I would like to request all the MPs of the country that we have fought as much as we had to but now that time is over, the people have given their verdict. I would like to request all the parties to go beyond party lines, dedicate themselves to the country and use this worthy platform of Parliament for the next 4.5 years. In the election year January 2029, one can play any game but till then we should be involved in empowering the farmers, youth and the country…” he said.

Parliament is not in favour of a particular ‘dal‘ (party), but for ‘desh‘ (the country), Modi said.

It is a sacred institution dedicated to the welfare of the nation and not personal interests. We must shed negativity, adopt a constructive approach and reverence the temple of democracy,” he added.

“Today is the first Monday of the year Sawan. On this auspicious day, an important session begins. I greet my countrymen. The monsoon session of Parliament begins today. Today, the whole country is watching. This should be a positive session…” he said in his address to the nation ahead of the budget session.

He praised the country’s economic growth and said the budget would help further build on India’s strong foundation.

“It is a matter of pride that after 60 years a government is coming to power for the third time and will present the first budget for the third time. I have given the people of the country guarantees and our task is to implement them. This budget is an important budget for “Amrit Kaal”. Today’s budget will set the direction for the next five years of our term. This budget will also lay a strong foundation for our dream of “Viking Bharat”,” he said.

The budget would be a crucial milestone on the path ofAmrit Kaal’ (golden times), he said.

“This Budget will set the tone and direction for the next five years. It will play a critical role in shaping the destiny of our nation and help us achieve our vision of a developed India by 2047,” the Prime Minister added.
