Wolverines trending: 5-star wide receiver

Wolverines trending: 5-star wide receiver

Michigan football recruiting has been relatively quiet over the past week or two following a number of commitments. That appears to be changing now as Michigan prepares for its recruiting event BBQ at the Big House.

Normally, the BBQ at the Big House is geared more towards incoming junior recruits (class of 2026). This year, however, due to the coaching changes at Michigan and the late start of the class of 2025, the BBQ will feature a ton of talent from the classes of 2025 and 2026.

One of the top recruits heading to the BBQ is five-star wide receiver Jerome Myles from Utah. Myles was formerly signed with Ole Miss, but decommitted from the Rebels and hasn’t been the subject of any breaking news since.

This is a little odd because when a talent of Myles’ caliber leaves a school, a new commitment usually follows soon after. But that wasn’t the case, which could mean Myles is looking for something other than the typical SEC program. That’s where Michigan football comes in.

The Wolverines have a big need at wide receiver. And even though the Wolverines are the favorite to land top-100 wideout Andrew Marsh, they would love to get Myles and Marsh. The two elite wide receivers will be in Ann Arbor next weekend, and the team will have a chance to make a big move with Myles.

Home state Utah is currently considered the favorite for Myles, but the Utes now play in a Big 12 conference, which is one tier below the rest of the Power 4 conferences. Michigan football has a much better football program and could even have the edge against the Utes with NIL.

Myles is expected to take official visits during the season, meaning the Wolverines could have him on campus twice in the next few months. He has already taken official visits to Texas A&M and Utah and plans to take official visits to Penn State and LSU. If Michigan can secure an official visit after the BBQ, they’ll be in a great position with Myles.

Ron Bellamy has turned up the pressure this recruiting cycle and is giving the Wolverines a chance at the best of the best. While it will still be an uphill battle to attract recruits like that, Michigan football is in a better position now than it has been in the past. Watch for updates on Myles or other top prospects next weekend. Go Blue!
