Malaysian oil and gas transportation company AET has appointed Chris Cattermole as Head of Sustainability.

Cattermole joins a company committed to deploying zero-emission vessels by the end of the decade and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, in line with the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) sectoral climate targets.

He will be based in Singapore, where the company is headquartered.

His responsibilities will include leading the decarbonisation strategy and its implementation, which includes converting the company’s fleet to low-carbon fuels. AET is a subsidiary of the MISC Group, which is owned by Malaysian oil and gas giant Petronas.

In a post on LinkedIn on Thursday, Cattermole said he looked forward to addressing the sustainability risks, challenges and opportunities in shipping.

Cattermole takes on this role after more than four years at consulting firm UL Solutions, where he served as ESG consulting lead. Prior to UL, Cattermole worked for consulting firms Accenture and KPMG in various sustainability consulting roles in the UK, Hong Kong and Singapore.
