NFL report: Class action lawsuit filed after Copa America disaster at Hard Rock Stadium

NFL report: Class action lawsuit filed after Copa America disaster at Hard Rock Stadium

Class action lawsuits are pending against the NFL’s Hard Rock Stadium and the soccer organizations CONMEBOL and CONCACAF over the disaster before the Copa America final against Argentina and Colombia.

Due to the chaos in the crowd, the game was delayed for an hour and over two dozen people were arrested and hundreds were injured.

On July 14, chaos ensued when uncontrollable crowds broke through Hard Rock Stadium’s security gates. Thousands of people who had not purchased tickets to the final stormed into the stadium, and fans who had purchased tickets were turned away at the entrance.

A fan named Das Nobel spoke to NBC6 after the game and said his family and hundreds of other families were stranded and denied entry to the stadium. Nobel’s family traveled from Dallas to Miami and spent over $7,000 on tickets. Nobel also remembers how thousands of people were let through security without tickets.

“The complaint appears to be a redress for a group of invited fans who paid money to attend the Copa America final at Hard Rock Stadium but were denied entry due to a failure to implement safety protocols and mass chaos.”

Other fans have also filed lawsuits, not only over the tickets they purchased and were denied entry, but also over the injuries they sustained when the out-of-control crowd stormed the stadium gates.

Not only were fans injured in this uncalled for chaos caused by fans, but Hard Rock Stadium was damaged and vandalized. Hard Rock Stadium is owned by the Miami Dolphins and they report that the stadium sustained significant damage and continue to investigate. The worst damage was in the Premier ’72 Club Area.

Hard Rock Stadium is home to the Miami Dolphins and the Miami Hurricanes. It not only hosts NFL and NCAA games, but also concerts and Super Bowls. It is also set to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Concerns are growing if Hard Rock Stadium does indeed host the 2026 World Cup. The Miami Dolphins don’t want this to happen to their stadium again, and the city of Miami doesn’t want out-of-control crowds. The World Cup is the biggest soccer tournament in the world, and the city of Miami and Hard Rock Stadium need to do better crowd control.

Many fans from all over the world are expected to come to Miami for the World Cup, but fans must also be aware that they will not be able to enter a game without a ticket.
