DeZhon Hall, target player of the Michigan State Spartans, talks about his strengths

Pike High School point guard DeZhon Hall is a rising talent in the class and his six offers are sure to go up sooner rather than later. Schools interested in Hall include Michigan State. Tom Izzo’s staff has seen Hall during live periods and the Spartans showed up for Hall twice this summer. Hall said they had good things to say and liked what they saw.

Hall is Izzo’s typical point guard. I asked him what he thinks are the strengths of his game.

“Running downhill and making contact, getting to the free throw line,” Hall told me. “I get to the free throw line a lot. I knock them down, too. Playmaking, I can make plays for my teammates. I can shoot the three and I’m trying to get more consistent at that. I’m a good defender in the mid-range, I can block shots, get rebounds, get steals, be in the passing lanes. I can defend bigger guys than me, I think that’s a great thing that I do too. I just have to keep working on all those things, get better at the things that I’m not as good at and just keep working on the things that I’m good at.”

Hall has two seasons to improve the things he feels need to be improved before he gets to college.

“I can shoot the 3 pretty well, but I’m just trying to get my percentage up and keep doing more reps. Make those shots because I know hitting the 3 is important at the next level,” Hall said.

Hall told me if there were things that were overlooked in his game, it was his playmaking and defensive abilities.

“I can create for others, I can figure out their strengths pretty easily and get them the ball where they’re most comfortable,” Hall said. “I can defend the 1 through 3, so I can defend the bigger wings if I need to. I just do what I need to do to win.”

Hall took an unofficial tryout last fall. On3 lists him as a shooting guard and he is the No. 48 shooting guard in the class of 2026.
