Rory Feeks fans shout: ‘That’s what she would have wanted!’ as the country singer remarries 8 years after the death of his wife Joey

RORY Feek is causing cries of joy among his fans after the singer remarried – almost a decade after the death of his wife Joey.

On Friday, the country artist announced that he married his daughter’s teacher, Rebecca, on July 14.

Rory, 59, described the intimate moment on his blog, saying they exchanged vows “under a beautiful half-timbered gazebo” in Greycliff, Montana, surrounded by family and friends.

He also noted that he owes his connection to Rebecca solely to his and Joey’s ten-year-old daughter, Indiana.

“Indiana only saw Rebecca as ‘Miss Rebecca,’ her teacher and our friend,” Rory explained.

“And even though she had become much more to me, I was very careful to let Indy figure things out on his own.”

HAPPILY EVER AFTER

Indiana eventually put the pieces together and even encouraged the couple to get married.

“‘And I told Miss Rebecca that my mom has been gone for a long time. And if she marries you, maybe she could be my new mother,'” Rory recalled his daughter saying.

The touching exchange brought Rory – who is also father to two older daughters, Heidi and Hopie, from a previous relationship – to tears, but led to a very happy ending.

Rory made the day extra special by surprising his bride with a performance of the song “I Do,” which he shared on his YouTube channel.

However, the songwriter admitted that this was not his favorite moment of the ceremony.

“When Indiana got the gift of having a mommy back in her life. And Rebecca got the gift of being a mother. And we became a family,” Rory said sweetly.

On Instagram, fans expressed their joy for the Kansas native. One wrote: “Congratulations Rory, I know Joey is happy for you and Indy.”

Another said, “I am SO happy for you both! I am praying for blessings on your marriage! I must admit, I cried when I saw this!”

A third gushed: “Congratulations. I’m here sobbing at the grace and growth you’ve shown despite your grief.”

Indiana only saw Rebecca as “Miss Rebecca,” her teacher and our friend.

And a fourth assured that Joey “would have wanted that!”

Rory and Joey’s story touched fans around the world as they followed their devastating health battle.

Joey died in March 2016 at the age of 40 after a two-year battle with stage four cervical cancer.

“My wife’s biggest dream came true today,” Rory wrote on his blog after her death.

SAY GOODBYE

“She is in heaven. The cancer is gone, the pain has stopped and all her tears have dried. Joey is in the arms of her beloved brother Justin, singing with her beautiful voice to her Savior.

“As we gathered around, holding hands and praying, my beloved bride took her last breath. And a moment later, on the other side, she took her first breath,” his post said.

Rory and Joey rose to fame after placing third on the CMT reality series “Can You Duet?”

They released seven albums as the country and bluegrass duo Joey + Rory.
