Ariana Madix rehearses for Broadway performance of “Chicago” in the “Love Island” villa

Ariana Madix performs her dance shows in the villa!

The Love Island USA Presenter prepares for her return to the Broadway musical in August Chicago while staying in Fiji while the reality show is filmed in real time.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Madix said she “didn’t really have time to rehearse” but was in the South Pacific country to hone her musical tricks.

“I did the vocal exercises my singing teacher sent me and yesterday I started singing a ‘Hot Honey Rag’ in front of the mirror in the hotel gym,” she continues, referring to the big Fosse-inspired dance sequence at the end of the musical. “But I was nervous that people would come in! ‘I wonder what’s wrong with that crazy woman?'”

The Vanderpump Rules The star adds that she will only have “two days to rehearse” before going on stage, but has held off on her dance videos because she doesn’t want to “scare” anyone.

PEOPLE exclusively announced in May that Madix will reprise her role as murderous adulteress Roxie Hart in the Tony-winning new production. Her run begins Aug. 1 at the Ambassador Theater in New York City and is scheduled to end Sept. 1 after a six-performance extension. She made her Broadway debut in the show in January, where she performed for 10 weeks, breaking box office records.

The reality TV star has a musical background and studied the craft at Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida, after which she moved to New York. Eventually, she moved to Los Angeles and landed the bartending job that landed her a role on Lisa Vanderpump’s show. Vanderpump Rules.

“To say this is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream would be an understatement,” Madix told PEOPLE during a press conference for the long-running musical in January. “This is literally everything to me. It’s everything I’ve ever wanted. And now to be here and have this full-circle moment… I’m eternally grateful.”

Chicago is about two murderous women who use their criminal notoriety to gain fame on the vaudeville circuit. The musical originally premiered in 1975, with legendary leading ladies Gwen Verdon and Chita Rivera in the roles of Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly.

The show – which featured the hits “All That Jazz,” “The Cell-Block Tango” and “When You’re Good to Mama” – was revived in 1996 with Ann Reinking and Bebe Neuwirth and won six Tony Awards, including Best Revival.

In 2002, a high-profile film adaptation of the musical was released, starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renée Zellweger. The film won six Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress for Zeta-Jones.
