Diesel engine manufacturer Yanmar Holdings Co., Ltd. is preparing a major collaborative anime project that Gundam Fans will appreciate the official website and social media of Japanese diesel engine and heavy equipment manufacturer Yanmar have revealed a new key visual for their five-part commercial anime anthology project. The project is titled “MIRU: Paths to my future“ and is scheduled to air on Japanese television between March and May 2025. One of the coolest aspects of the reveal was that the experienced producer of many of the Gundam Movies and series, Masuo Ueda, confirmed his joining the project.

Continuation of the Gundam Zug, Studio Nue’s screenwriter Shigeru Morita has also joined this project for Yanmar. He has worked on many sci-fi mecha/robot anime series, such as Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, Code GeassAnd Star Blazers: Space Battleship YamatoHe will write the screenplay for MIRUwith each part being animated by five different up-and-coming anime studios. From the first visuals, I could tell that they are aiming for an epic effect, reminiscent of the epic scale of anime films like Belle, weathering with you or Suzume.

This special anime series is set in a world where humans and robots coexist while the world is on the brink of environmental disaster. The team described MIRU as the robot that is “weaponless and assists humans in overcoming challenges.” Yanmar explained that this project is about creating a “sustainable future,” guided by the ideology of “Hanasaka,” which values faith in people’s potential and encourages new challenges.

The other big concept MIRU will cover the concept of the butterfly effect. As the robot evolves through human interactions and learns their behaviors, it will peacefully overcome obstacles and influence people towards a better future. In each of the five anthology stories, the main character will interact with the robot and address themes related to sustainability and Hanasaka. The ultimate message Yanmar wanted to leave with the audience is “The future is in our hands” and with this project he wants to make a positive impact on the world. The first image was released last year.

Here is the provided description of MIRUs Concept:

“Confrontation and harmony between man and nature.’ The protagonist overcomes challenges and personal growth and tries to preserve the environment necessary for our existence, while the presence of robots is portrayed on his journey. The title of the anime, “未ル (Miru)”, represents the future and is a verb that reminds us how we actively move forward under our own power. Even if there are difficulties, we will create a better future by each overcoming our challenges.”
