The Bemidji Pioneer, Paul Bunyan Broadcasting, Ken K. Thompson and the United Way recognize “special volunteers” who have made significant contributions to the community.
The Boys and Girls Club of Bemidji Area has nominated Dr. Sarah Cronin and Janet Nelson.
“Dr. Sarah Cronin joined the Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors in 2019 and has been a valuable member of our organization,” a press release said. “She is a strong advocate of the club’s mission and puts children and youth first.”
Dr. Cronin led the Program and Safety Committee and served as Board Chair during the pandemic. She brings her expertise as a consulting psychologist and evaluator to club programs and has helped secure and meet grant goals.
“Cronin is a club champion who shares the club’s mission with others,” the press release continues. “Our club programs are stronger because Dr. Cronin is part of our team.”
Janet Nelson brings her expertise in photography and her love of nature to the club. For several years, Nelson has taught club children and teens how to take photos in the club garden that capture the beauty of nature.
Thanks to Nelson’s guidance, the club’s youth have submitted photos for the national photography contest. In December, she will also be making ornaments with the club’s children.
“She does an above-average job helping us organize all the photos and select important photos for club publications,” the press release said. “We are grateful to have Nelson as a strong club champion.”
