Report: Tanner Tessmann's contract with Inter Milan collapsed despite club agreement

Tanner Tessmann is now moving to Inter Milan after the two sides could not reach an agreement on personal terms. by Fabrizio Romano.

Tessmann was linked with a move from Venezia to Inter earlier this summer, with the Serie A champions interested in the US midfielder. Gianluca DiMarizo reported that Inter wanted to sign the midfielder on the condition that Tessmann returns to Venezia on loan for the 2024/25 season. After the season, the 23-year-old would join Inter.

According to Romano, an agreement was reached between the two clubs. However, Tessmann and Inter could not agree on the personal terms. The transfer has now fallen through and Tessmann will stay at Venezia.

Tessmann moves to Inter Milan because no agreement could be reached on personal terms

Tessmann, who is currently on the USMNT roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics, made 37 league appearances in Serie B last summer. Tessmann played a key role alongside fellow countryman Gianluca Busio in helping Venezia return to the Italian top flight.

Tessmann has only made two appearances for the senior U.S. national team, but the Olympics are a great opportunity for him to show the next USMNT boss that he should be considered for the 2026 World Cup on home soil. His first call-up came in January 2021 in a 7-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago.

The USA will face France, New Zealand and Guinea in the group stage of the Olympics, and the younger team has the potential to rewrite the country’s history after the senior team was eliminated from the 2024 Copa America in the group stage. That disappointment led to Gregg Berhalter losing his job as head coach.

The USMNT attempted to contact Jurgen Klopp but was quickly rebuffed by the former Liverpool manager. The latest name to be linked with the team is former Crystal Palace, RC Strasbourg and OGC Nice coach Patrick Vieira. The US Soccer Federation has the Arsenal legend on its list after Vieira and Strasbourg parted ways amicably on July 18.
