“Love Lies Bleeding” makes it into next month’s streaming offer with all its might

Director Rose Glass delivers an entertaining, quirky and gay crime thriller that defies all expectations and will be available to stream on Max from July 19th.

A24 and Max show their support for Pride in the best way with the news that Rose glass‘ Love lies bleedingwill be released on the streamer next month. The representation that the community has always wanted comes through the Kristen Stewart (Spencer) And Katy O’Brian (The Mandalorian) led queer thriller and will have you celebrating Pride month well into July. With Max’s Extensive range of A24 content, Love lies bleeding will take its rightful place alongside other classics of the studio, such as Midsummer, The Iron Claw, Moonlightand more.

Set in a tiny town in Texas in the late 80s, Love lies bleeding follows the stormy relationship between the two main characters Lou (Stewart) and Jackie (O’Brian). Jackie has just arrived in town on her way to Las Vegas for a bodybuilding competition and becomes a regular at Lou’s gym. Lou didn’t know that when they first met, Jackie had already landed a job at the shooting range of Lou’s father Lou Sr. (Ed Harris), a good-for-nothing who In recent years, Lou has kept his distance fromWhat unfolds over the course of the rest of Glass’ second film is a story about a lifelong love affair, dysfunctional family dynamics, murder and an ending you wouldn’t believe if we told you.

While Stewart’s and O’Brian’s characters the two main forces behind Love lies bleedingevery other personality involved in the film has its own significance for the course of the chaotic madness. The two main actresses (and Harris) are joined by Jena Malone (The hunger Games Franchise) as Lou’s sister Beth, Dave Franco (Now you see Me) as Beth’s abusive husband JJ and Anna Baryshnikov (Dickinson) as Lou’s former obsessive love interest, Daisy.

In 2019, Glass took audiences into a true mindf*** situation in her feature-length directorial debut. Saint MaudFive years later, the filmmaker was back with Love lies bleedingand gave audiences something they had never seen before. As many members of the LGBTQ+ community can attest, the “copy and paste” mentality is very real when it comes to queer storylines and usually ends with at least one member of the couple dead. But Glass turned this cliche on its head with Love lies bleedingand offers viewers a thriller on par with The Wachowski‘s debut heist flick, Bound. It’s fun, it’s weird, it’s gay and it’s everything cinema should be.
