Caitlin Clark is excited to be on the hood of a NASCAR Cup Series car

Although Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is in Phoenix to participate in the WNBA All-Star Game, she will still return to Indianapolis in a very special way.

Earlier this week, it was announced that the Stewart-Haas Racing No. 4 Ford Mustang Dark Horse driven by Josh Berry will use a special paint scheme featuring Clark on the hood for this weekend’s Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

It is the result of a partnership with Panini trading cards and features a chic color scheme.

Clark herself told WISH-TV what it was like to see her likeness on the hood of a Cup Series car, but I think we would all be stunned if her reaction wasn’t something like, “Holy crap, that’s cool!”

In fact, it went in that direction.

“I was like, ‘Oh my God! Is this real?’ she said. “I want to drive the car. So, maybe I’ll have to take a spin at some point, but it’s super cool… Hopefully it brings good vibes and we get the win.”

Sure, anyone would love to see their face on a race car (I would love it; I’m just throwing that out there in case someone can arrange that), but is she a NASCAR fan?

“Honestly, I grew up watching NASCAR,” Clark explained. “My mom was kind of involved in it, so I was a really big fan growing up. It’s super cool.”

The Is super cool, but it gets even cooler.

The partnership doesn’t end with the checkered flag. Instead, the team and Clark will auction off the hood and donate the proceeds to the Matt Alexander Memorial Baseball Scholarship Fund.

It’s great to see this kind of cross-pollination between completely different sports, and it’s great for NASCAR to have a little extra thrill as the Cup Series returns to the IMS oval for the first time in several years.
