2024 SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES IN PARIS

We saw photos of the Australian stars as they completed the final days of their warm-up camp in Chartres, about 98km outside the host city.

But on deck, head coach of the Dolphins Rohan Taylor spoke to the media about her trip to Paris, covering topics ranging from preparation to the rivalry between the USA and Australia to the selection of the relay teams.

Taylor stresses right at the start that he sees his role as head coach as a “privilege” and that he is “very much looking forward to seeing the athletes on the starting blocks representing Australia”.

As for the heated rivalry with the United States, Taylor can be heard calling the U.S. the gold standard in swimming, commenting, “We believe we strive to be as consistently good” as them.

Taylor also explained how the selection process for relay team members will work throughout the Olympic program. The goal is to first put together the best preliminary team for qualification and then work from there, balancing the athletes’ daily schedules and individual swim schedules.

Taylor says that as head coach, he has final approval for the season lineups after all scenarios and recommendations have been reviewed.
