Rory Feek remarries 8 years after the death of his wife Joey

Rory Feek has said “yes” again – eight years after the death of his former wife Joey.

The country singer announced on his blog that he married his 10-year-old daughter Indiana’s teacher, Rebecca, on July 14.

The couple tied the knot in front of family and friends “under a beautiful half-timbered gazebo” in Greycliff, Montana, where he surprised her with a special wedding song he wrote himself.

The 59-year-old wrote that the love story between him and Rebecca began when his daughter said it was actually her idea.

“Rebecca and I had decided to be together. To choose each other and see where it could lead. And although we knew marriage was a possibility, neither of us felt we could talk about it seriously,” he explained.

“Especially because up until then, Indiana had only seen Rebecca as ‘Miss Rebecca,’ her teacher and our friend. And even though she had become much more than that to me, I was very careful to let Indy ‘figure it out’ on her own. And to be honest, I wasn’t really sure if she ever could or would.”

“Her love for her mom is so great and holds such a big place in her life. Neither Rebecca nor I meant to hurt that in any way,” Rory wrote.

“And so we just waited and watched to see if Indiana would ever get the idea that Rebecca could be more than just a friend to her dad and to her.”

It was only at the end of March, when Rebecca visited the father-daughter duo on their farm for their usual morning routine, that she revealed that Indiana had proposed to her, her father.

“I asked Indy and she told me, ‘Mrs. Rebecca, I think you should marry daddy…'” he wrote.

“And then Indy looked at me and said, ‘And I told Miss Rebecca that my mom has been gone for a long time. And if she marries you, maybe she could be my new mother…'”

Joey Feek died in March 2016 after a two-year battle with cervical and colon cancer.

Rory also has two daughters, Heidi and Hopie, from a previous relationship.
