Iran condemns Israeli attacks on Yemen and warns against escalation of war in the region

The State Department has strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s previous deadly attacks in western Yemen and warned that such aggression could further worsen the already dire situation in the region.

Spokesman Nasser Kan’ani made the remarks on Saturday, hours after Israeli warplanes attacked civilian buildings, oil facilities and a power plant in Yemen’s al-Hudaydah province, causing numerous casualties.

The aggression shows the aggressive character of the child-killing Israeli regime, he said, pointing out that such dangerous adventurism on the part of Tel Aviv could escalate tensions and add fuel to the fire of war in the region.

Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari rejected official reports that the airstrikes targeted civilian buildings and claimed that the regime’s planes hit “military targets” in al-Hudaydah.

He also said the attacks were a response to attacks carried out by Yemeni forces on the occupied Palestinian territories in recent months.

The forces have been attacking the territories, as well as Israeli vessels and vessels associated with the occupation regime, since Tel Aviv launched a genocidal war against the Gaza Strip on October 7. They have vowed to continue their operations as long as the regime maintains the war and simultaneous siege on the Palestinian territory.

Kan’ani said that by attacking Yemen, the regime wanted to exact a tribute from the oppressed but strong Yemeni people for their honorable support of innocent Palestinian civilians.

He considered the continuation of Israeli massacres and the siege of the Gaza Strip as the root cause of the current tensions in the region and stressed that there would never be peace in the region as long as the regime continued its violations against the coastal strip.

The speaker concluded his remarks by noting that the Zionist regime and its supporters, including the United States, are directly responsible for the dangerous and unpredictable consequences that could result from the continuation of the violations against the Gaza Strip and the adventurous attacks on Yemen.
