Laura Loomer rejoices over the death of Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee in racist tirade

Laura Loomer, a white nationalist and once Donald Trump’s favorite for a campaign role, sparked a storm of outrage on social media by metaphorically dancing on the grave of a black congresswoman.

Democratic Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee of Texas, a progressive voice in Congress who fought for civil and women’s rights, died Friday night at the age of 74, shortly after announcing that she was battling pancreatic cancer.

“Even on her deathbed, this ghetto bitch couldn’t keep President Trump’s name out of her disgusting mouth,” the conservative TV host wrote in a series of posts on X. Loomer first reposted one of Jackson’s last posts; a July 20 comment criticizing the former president.

“Sheila Jackson Lee will be remembered as a destructive force in America and as one of the lowest IQ members of Congress in our nation’s history.”

Jackson Lee graduated from Yale College and the University of Virginia Law School before serving in Congress for 30 years. X-users were quick to denounce Loomer’s “ghetto bitch” remarks as racist and vile, including Jackson Lee’s former colleague in the Congressional Black Caucus, Democratic Rep. Ritchie Torres (N.Y.).

“These are the words of a fanatical racist who represents everything that is rancid and corrupt about the far right,” Torres wrote on X. “There is a special place in hell for Laura Loomer.”

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) weighed in on the debate, simply writing, “I don’t think ‘going to heaven’ people tweet things like that.”

Loomer reiterated her remarks on Saturday afternoon, adding succinctly, “I meant every word I said” and “everything I said about Sheila Jackson Lee is true.”
