Country star Jason Aldean headlines private RNC party in Milwaukee

The RNC will host its biggest music act yet, closing the convention with a performance by country star Jason Aldean at the Potawatomi Casino Hotel.

Reince Priebus, chairman of the RNC hosting committee, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Thursday that the singer will perform at a party the committee is hosting after the RNC ends Thursday night.

Aldean became a polarizing figure when his first No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100, “Try That in a Small Town,” outraged some for its implicit endorsement of violence. Critics claimed the song and the music video released a year ago contained racist dog whistles, claims Aldean denied.

Aldean dedicated the controversial song to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump at a show in Holmdel, New Jersey, on Saturday after the former president was shot in the ear in an assassination attempt.

Aldean and his wife Brittany were spotted in the front row of Trump’s VIP box on Thursday evening.

The Milwaukee show will take place at the Potawatomi Casino Hotel’s new open-air venue, according to the Milwaukee Business Journal. The new venue, which has a capacity of 4,800, opened on June 15 with a performance by Snoop Dogg.

The private show was not listed on Aldean’s tour schedule.

Aldean will be back in the area on August 17 for a stop at Alpine Valley on his Highway Desperado 2024 tour.

The RNC host committee did not immediately respond to a request for further details about the party or concert.
