WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan (WABC) – A 40-year-old man was stabbed to death in a Manhattan subway station on Friday, police said.

An argument on the mezzanine at a Washington Heights train station on 175th Street shortly before 6 p.m. led to the violence, police said.

When officers arrived, they found the victim with numerous stab wounds.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The victim was later identified as Johnny Medina of Manhattan.

The reason for the dispute remains under investigation.

No arrests are made.

“This was a senseless attack that extended from the street to the subway, and we offer our full cooperation in the investigation and are confident that the NYPD will quickly identify and arrest the perpetrator,” MTA Communications Director Tim Minton said in a statement.
