IDF drone attack in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley kills Ayman Ratma

An Israeli military drone carried out a targeted attack on Saturday on a vehicle carrying Hamas’s Lebanon supply director Ayman Ratma, who was traveling in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley, the military reported.

Israeli forces later confirmed that they had attacked Lebanon to eliminate Ratma, who helped direct arms shipments to Hamas and Jamaa Islamiya in Lebanon.

The army said he was killed because of his involvement in terrorist attacks against Israel and planning future attacks on Israeli civilians.

Jamaa Islamiya

The Jamaa Islamiya organization, a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood in Lebanon, has been involved in several attacks against Israel since the beginning of the war. Several of its members have been killed in Israeli air force attacks in recent months.

In May, Israeli forces killed Shurahbil Ali Alsayed, a senior commander of Jamaa Islamiya in Lebanon. He was killed in the Majdal Anjar area of southern Lebanon.

The Bekaa Valley is located in eastern Lebanon on the border with Syria. Hezbollah concentrates all its strategic forces in the Bekaa Valley, which is far from the border with Israel.

The Israeli military has been active in the region recently. In early June, Lebanese reports said seven different targets were attacked on the Israeli-Syrian border. One of the attacks reportedly took place in the Bekaa Valley and targeted a Hezbollah strategic asset linked to the organization’s clerical sphere of influence.
