Jelly Roll and other country stars tell us why they love America

Independence Day is just around the corner and no one knows American pride like the stars of country music.

“Music – especially country music – brings people together, no matter what,” Chris Lucas of LoCash shares exclusively in the latest issue of We weeklynow on sale. “Music brings everyone together in America.”

The country music duo, consisting of Lucas and Preston Chestexpresses her love for America in many of her songs, including the patriotic “Three Favorite Colors.”

“I got three favorite letters / And let me spell them for you / They say USA / Where I wish everything was made / Every truck, every boot and every tool / Yeah, I got three favorite colors / And they’re red, white and blue,” they sing in the 2023 song.

“This country has changed my whole life,” said the musician, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, Us while promoting his National Donut Day campaign with Dunkin’. “The freedom to do what I do here… thank God for this country because today I can eat donuts and photograph fine art for money. It’s absurd.”

Jelly Roll – who had a hugely successful year with hits like “Need a Favor,” which earned him his first Grammy nomination for Best New Artist – also recognizes the importance of American art.

“What I know about American art is that we influence everyone,” he said. “I know this because I talk to international artists now. I get submissions from the UK, I get submissions from Germany, I’ve done submissions with those artists and they’re all chasing the American sound.”

Wynonna Judd

“From New Jersey to California to the backwoods district of Kentucky where I come from, I have had experiences all over America,” said the country music legend Us“What I love most is the diversity, the melting pot.”

But Judd is especially grateful to the United States for the opportunities it has offered her.

“I went from being on welfare to being a millionaire. I was raised by a single parent. We didn’t have adequate nutrition and lived on food stamps,” Judd said. Us“I am forever grateful because America showed me that no matter where I came from, I could make it in country music and have the life that I have.”

Alana Springsteen

“America was built on dreams. It was built on dreamers,” said Springsteen Us at the CMA Fest. “I’ve felt that my whole life.”

Springsteen grew up in Virginia Beach, where she began writing songs at the age of nine before moving to Nashville to pursue music full-time.

“My parents made it on their own, they never worked nine to five, they just went out and did their thing and made it happen,” she continued. “I think growing up in that environment and realizing that you can achieve anything you set your mind to in this country because we have that freedom is everything.”

Carly Pearce

“I’ve traveled abroad a lot and I feel like I always come back. I’m just so grateful for the way our country is run and the things that we take for granted that not everyone has,” said the singer of “We Don’t Fight Anymore” Us“You just think, ‘Wow, we are blessed to live here.'”

Charles Esten

Esten was involved for several years in television shows named after American places: Nashville And Outer banksBut Esten has also traveled the country as a musician and praises the diverse landscapes of the United States.

“(There is) a wide area. Whatever you want, you can find,” he said Us at CMA Fest. “We just toured Europe and that exists there to a certain extent, but when you’re in a certain country, a lot of the country looks like that country. In that country, you want your desert, you find your desert. You want your mountains, you find your mountains.”

The country singer and American Idol Alaun supported Esten’s view.

“(I love) how different everything is,” she said Us“I mean, you can be in Florida and enjoy the sun and everything is flat, and then you can go to Arizona and it’s orange and mountainous and it’s not flat at all. And then you can be in Colorado on a mountain and go skiing.”

“You just see the optimism of America,” said the country singer and Mississippi native Us. “You see that so often on social media these days. If you have a good idea, it could change the whole world, that’s so cool.”

Doleac continued, “Whether it’s a song idea or a business idea… just having an idea and chasing it and getting it is incredible. It’s such a cool way to live.”
