Book signing for “Oliver, the Clownfish” on July 24

Children’s book author Stephanie Guzman will be signing copies of “The Adventures of Oliver the Clownfish: Acting Cool” from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, at Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.

Peer pressure and bullying affect many children. The Parent Sandbar section of the book provides tips and strategies for parents to help their children deal with this part of growing up. Young readers will see examples of what they can do to resist peer pressure and bullying in their lives.

In the colorfully illustrated 32-page picture book, Oliver wants to look cool in front of his friends. He is unsure about being friends with Dolly, a dolphin who looks different. Oliver learns how to resist peer pressure and discovers the true meaning of friendship. This publication won a Dove Award for Family Friendliness. This second edition includes the popular feature “10 Things You May Not Know About Dolphins” and a section for parents that offers resources to help children resist peer pressure.

Guzman is a reading specialist and a state-certified teacher. When she began her career as a second-grade teacher, she noticed that there were few books for children that addressed the many issues of character development that are important today. Through her books, she hopes to be a positive role model for children around the world.
