Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington play “Hunger Strike”

Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington will be forever connected.

Cornell would have turned 60 today (July 20), while Bennington died seven years ago today. Their shocking suicides were separated by just months and are all the more painful considering Bennington sang at Cornell’s funeral.

Both men were unique voices of their generation that stood out from the rest, and what better way to honor them than by looking back at the time they shared the stage together in 2008 when Cornell and Linkin Park were on tour?

Here Cornell and Bennington sing the hit “Hunger Strike” by Temple of the Dog.

Linkin Park reportedly considering a tour in 2025

Linkin Park is reportedly considering touring with three of its members in 2025.

Accordingly BillboardMike Shinoda, Brad Delson and Dave Farrell are the three members reportedly taking part in this tour. This tour is being managed by booking agency WME, who are also reportedly looking for headlining festival dates for this version of Linkin Park.

Additionally, Billboard Notes: Linkin Park is considering hiring a female singer to take over the vocals of late frontman Chester Bennington.

In April, rumors about a new Linkin Park singer made headlines thanks to Orgy frontman Jay Gordon.

Gordon spoke in a new interview with Mike Z. of KCAL 96.7 about how Linkin Park once toured with Orgy and how Gordon remixed “Pts.OF.Athrty” in 2002. Revival.

Gordon mentioned how much he admired Linkin Park and that the band’s future would be challenging without Bennington. He then said he had heard that Linkin Park now had a woman singing for them.

“Don’t quote me,” said Gordon, who was clearly unaware of how interviews work. “I’m not sure who the singer will be, but I heard it’s going to be a woman.”

Jay Gordon’s statement after fueling rumors about a new Linkin Park singer

Understandably, Gordon’s comments about Linkin Park caused such a stir that he issued another statement.

Gordon shared on Facebook: “As for this thing with the singer of Linkin Park, I don’t know anything about it. People like to take my words out of context. I love those guys and wish them the best.”

He added: “Wow, I was like, what the hell? I didn’t say anything about it and I never mentioned it. I love Chester and there will never be another one of him. Weird that the guy said something to me about it and not the other way around. Be honest, dude. Not cool!”

Gordon added in the comments section of his post: “I wish them nothing but the best after this terrible and tragic loss. (Chester) was a friend. Such a legendary guy in so many ways. I’m still sad about it. These are my own words, not a hyped up story to get people to go along with it.”

He added: “I would never speak on behalf of another band. They communicate just fine on their own too. If something like this happens, I would hope THEY would be the ones to announce the news. I certainly wouldn’t do that to them or anyone else. Click-summoning has never been my strong suit, so don’t ever take my words out of context again, bro.”

The Amy Lee of it all

In April, Evanescence singer Amy Lee made headlines after being questioned about rumors that she had been recruited to lead the band Linkin Park.

Although Lee was initially flattered to be associated with Linkin Park, she denied that anyone from the band had contacted her. She did, however, seem somewhat interested in the idea.

“You should ask me that,” Lee said. “I don’t have much free time, but I might do it part-time.”
