“The View” appalled by Chris Christie’s claim that he “doesn’t have to” vote in the 2024 presidential election: “You want to sit out this election?!”

The view always gets heated when Chris Christie comes around, but today was especially heated. The former New Jersey governor had a lot to say after watching the final night of the Republican National Convention last night (July 18), and although he stressed that he will not support Republican candidate Donald Trump in this fall’s election, he still caused plenty of chaos at the Hot Topics table.

Christie told the panel that he believes President Joe Biden needs to drop out of the race. However, when Ana Navarro asked him if he would “vote for the Democrats” – noting that she knew he would not vote for Trump – Christie replied, “Right now, I’m not voting for either of them. I’m just not.”

He added, “One man is mentally incapable of doing this job—” but Joy Behar interrupted him and said, “But you have to choose!”

Christie replied: “No, I will vote for the bottom list. I don’t have to vote, no!”

This was not well received at the table, to say the least.

When her co-hosts insisted that Christie must cast his vote in the fall, Sunny Hostin chimed in: “You can’t throw away your vote! I asked you that last time, Chris. Are you going to sit out this time?”

Christie told her, “I disagree with you,” but added, “I’m going to sit this one out.”

Navarro, always quick to come up with her own answer, said to her guest, “But Chris, don’t you think it’s cheeky of you to tell the Democrats they have to get rid of their candidate when you’re not willing to vote for one of their candidates?”

Christie insisted, “I didn’t say that,” and told the panel he would wait to see if Democrats dropped Biden as their likely nominee. He added, “I’m willing to consider anyone who presents themselves as someone who is going to make the country better.”

Later in the segment, Christie again criticized the panel – with the exception of Alyssa Farah Griffin – by refusing to support a hypothetical ticket of Kamala Harris and Josh Shapiro.

When Christie said he wasn’t sure he would vote for Harris-Shapiro in the election because he “needed to see what they have to say,” Navarro threw up his hands in exasperation, but Griffin shouted, “You need to see what they have to say! Politics is important.”

However, Hostin stuck to her original message and told Christie again: “You can’t sit this out.”

The view airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
