The action RPG Shadows Awakening is free to keep, but act fast

While there are too many incredible RPGs out there right now to keep track of them all, a free game is nothing to be sniffed at. Elden Ring, Diablo 4, and Baldur’s Gate 3 are all truly revolutionary in their own way, but they also cost quite a few bucks. Shadow: AwakeningBut it won’t. It’s only for a short time, so if an action RPG where your entire party lives inside a demon sounds like your thing, you’ll want to get it done quickly.

If you’re looking for a new RPG, Shadows: Awakening is free for a very limited time. Played from an isometric perspective like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Diablo 4, the real-time tactical combat features one key difference: your entire party is inside a demon.

The party banter, arguments, personalities, and dialogue we’ve come to expect from classic fantasy action RPGs are still there, but they’re all a bit more cramped. Trapped in the Devourer, a demon from the Shadow Realm, you’ll find yourself swapping between party members on the fly in battle, keeping the others safe while one comes out to play.

You have a choice of three heroes and can find 14 playable characters, plus a 60-hour quest awaits you if you decide to do whatever comes your way.

Shadows: Awakening also features crafting and loot systems, full voice acting, and the ability to switch between the mortal plane and the Shadow Realm at any time if you have what it takes to survive amidst the demons.

If you’re not currently playing Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, or think the upcoming releases of FF14 Dawntrail or Zenless Zone Zero aren’t for you, Shadows: Awakening is a great free alternative. When it’s normally $30 on Steam and you can get it for free, you can’t really argue.

Shadows: Awakening is available for free on GOG until Monday, June 24th at 6am PT, 9am ET, 2pm BST, or midnight AEDT.. The download is available right here.
