Brady Miller signs with the Chicago Dogs

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Former Western Michigan right-hander Brady Miller has signed a contract with the Chicago Dogs of the American Association, an official MLB partner league. With his signing, Miller becomes the second Bronco to move up to the professional league this year, after his right-handed colleague Lukas Thelen was drafted by the Colorado Rockies earlier this week.

A native of Plainfield, Illinois, Miller was a staple in Western Michigan’s weekend rotation during his time in Kalamazoo. He announced his arrival with a stellar freshman season in 2019, when he went 5-2 with a 3.10 ERA in 15 appearances and 10 starts and was named to the All-MAC Second Team.

He made four starts in 2020 before the remainder of the season was canceled due to COVID-19. He then appeared in 13 contests for WMU during the 2021 season, including 12 starts. An injury forced him to sit out 2022, but he returned with a full force in 2023, finishing third in the league in innings pitched (89.0), seventh in strikeouts (89) and leading the MAC with seven conference wins en route to another All-MAC Second Team selection.

Last season, Miller tied for the team lead with 85.1 innings pitched, the second-best player in the MAC, and led Western Michigan in wins for the second straight season, earning six victories. He threw 7.0 shutout innings against Ball State in WMU’s first game of the MAC Tournament, earning a spot on the All-Tournament team as the Broncos captured the second MAC Tournament title in school history.

A three-time Academic All-MAC selection, Miller finished his career at Western Michigan as the second-leading pitcher all-time in innings pitched (304.0), the fourth-leading strikeout player (262) and one of six pitchers to record at least 20 wins for the Brown and Gold.

Miller holds two degrees from WMU, a bachelor’s degree in finance and an MBA.
