First week sales figures for Eminem’s “The Death Of Slim Shady” announced

Earlier this month, Eminem finally unveiled his highly anticipated new album, The death of Slim Shady. The project features various high-profile features from Big Sean, JID, Ez Mil and more and should have a great first week. It was projected to sell over 300,000 copies, earning Em a top spot on the Billboard 200 and surpassing Taylor Swift’s 12-week chart run. The “Tortured Poets” section govern.

Now, HITS Daily Double has the numbers, and they certainly do not disappoint. According to reports The death of Slim Shady sold 287,000 copies in its first week, not including physical copies. Physical copies aren’t scheduled to ship for a few months, so they’re not included. However, the number is still in line with the forecast and is no small feat considering how long Eminem has been in the business.

Much like the album itself, the news has garnered mixed reactions from fans. While some are impressed by how many copies Em has been able to sell, others find the number sounds low for him. However, many point out that this is likely because physical sales were not taken into account, which will surely be a sizable contributor to the current number.

From a commercial point of view, the project has undoubtedly been a success so far, but the same cannot be said about the critics’ reviews. pitchfork rated the project 4.8/10, Anthony Fantano of TheNeedleDrop rated it 5/10, and his Metacritic score currently stands at 48/100.
