Miguel Rojas on winning the World Series with the Dodgers: “That would mean the world to me”

Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Miguel Rojas is well aware that his career is coming to an end. At 35, Rojas will likely play a few more seasons before moving into a coaching role, ideally with the Dodgers.

Despite being one of the most consistent defenders at the shortstop position, Rojas has not received many accolades throughout his career, never being named an All-Star or Gold Glove winner in his ten-year career.

Rojas would like to achieve these successes, but he would like even more to become a World Series champion.

“It would mean everything to me,” Rojas told Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain on Dodgers Dugout Live. “I dream of being a major league player. I dream of being a shortstop every day, I dream of winning a Gold Glove — I’ve been close to it — I dream of being in the playoffs and I dream of winning a World Series. I think that’s the last piece of the puzzle that Miguel Rojas needs to fulfill everything I dream of.

Rojas has stated that he wants to finish his career with the Dodgers and wants to win the World Series with the Dodgers. He still remembers the Dodgers as the team that gave him a chance by giving him his first Major League appearance on June 6, 2014.

“And of course it would be a huge accomplishment for me to do that with the Los Angeles Dodgers because that’s where I started my career,” Rojas told McKain. “They gave me the opportunity to play in the major leagues and now I’m not only playing in the major leagues, but I’m a big part of something we want to do and accomplish. That would mean the world to me.”

Rojas, who was traded to the Miami Marlins after the 2014 season, returned to the team in 2023 when the Marlins traded him back to Los Angeles. The Dodgers signed Rojas to a contract extension in February, and Rojas has a batting average of .284/.330/.426 with three home runs and 21 RBIs in 64 games for the Dodgers in 2024.
