Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley Holds 2024-26 Leadership Inauguration

Zonta Club of Santa Clarita Valley Holds 2024-26 Leadership Inauguration

To recognize Zonta’s leadership in the Santa Clarita Valley, ten past presidents of the Zonta Club of the Santa Clarita Valley hosted the induction of officers and directors for the 2024-2026 biennium on Monday, May 20, on the beautiful patio of the Salt Creek Grille in Valencia.

“Beth, you have been elected our president, and all the other former presidents are here to assist you with your strategic plans. . . You are our master gardeners. You educate and train other gardeners. . . We know you will nurture our club members,” said Dr. Sharon Langenbeck.

The great event focused on future President Beth Ryan’s passion for gardening and the theme was “Tending Our Zonta Garden.”

The room was decorated with huge bouquets of vegetable-themed balloons, and the centerpiece featured colorful watering cans filled with fresh flowers.

Special guests, including former Zonta International President Dr. Sharon Langenbeck, Zonta International District 9 Lieutenant Governor and Governor-elect Gloria Salas, and International Director and Area Director-elect Britt Vaughan, along with fifty members, guests and friends, were present to witness the installation of the new officers and directors, Foundation Trustees and Nominating Committee.

The first item on the agenda was to recognize and thank outgoing President Nicole Miller, who was presented with a stunning engraved crystal vase and the coveted former President’s pin.

Miller also received certificates of achievement from the city, county and state governments.

Under Miller’s leadership, our club has become known in local schools for our Z Clubs and Golden Z.

Miller shared her thoughts on her presidency and her speech was met with a standing ovation and minutes of applause.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the coveted Zontian of the Year Award, which was presented by the three most recent award winners: Fran Fiel, Cindy Kittle and Cherise Moore.

They surprised the crowd by breaking with tradition and giving Nicole Miller this special honor, the only time a president has ever been appointed to do so.

Dr. Sharon Langenbeck stepped forward as inaugural officer and asked the new trustees of the foundation, the nominating committee, and the club’s directors and officers to take their oath of office. Each received a garden-themed souvenir gift.

Finally, the new president, Beth Ryan, was introduced and sworn in, according to Zonta officials.
