Michigan football quarterback Davis Warren has been nominated for a prestigious award

Davis Warren is entering his senior year at Michigan and is vying for a key role with the Wolverines in 2024. Warren played nine games in Ann Arbor as a backup. But now that JJ McCarthy is gone, the Wolverines must look for a new starting quarterback. Alex Orji is currently the presumptive starting quarterback, but guys like Jack Tuttle and Warren are also in the running and will compete in fall camp to try to become “that” guy for Michigan.

Players and coaches have a lot of respect for Warren. He is viewed as a coach on the sidelines and a leader in the locker room. Recently, Orji told the media that when Warren speaks, the team listens.

“It’s been great to see the guys rally around us, knowing that a guy like Dave (Warren) has been here longer than anybody else in the room, how he’s able to do this – a lot of guys have seen what he’s been through with the program and how he runs his business. You don’t really have to doubt what he says. You never really think twice about what he says, you know what he’s about.”

Because of the leadership qualities Warren displays on and off the team, the senior quarterback was nominated for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team for his community volunteerism.

When Warren has had the chance to play, he has completed five of 14 passes for 89 yards and an interception during his time in Ann Arbor. He has been impressive during Michigan’s last two spring games, but that will have to translate to the field for him to earn a starting spot this fall. By all appearances, Warren will play a major role for Michigan in 2024, even if he doesn’t earn the starting spot. His leadership in the program alone will pay dividends for the Wolverines this season.
