TV series “Halo” canceled at Paramount Plus

The Paramount Plus video game adaptation Halo was canceled after two seasons, but there is still hope for Master Chief.

Paramount confirmed the news without giving a reason for the cancellation, but thanked those involved in the show in a statement from a Paramount Plus spokesperson.

“We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries and Amblin Television, as well as showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his colleagues, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief and the amazing crew for their outstanding work. We wish everyone the best for the future,”

Hope for Halo

But that may not be the end of the series. According to Deadline, Amblin Television, Xbox and 343 Industries are trying to pitch Halo elsewhere in order to get a third season.

Halo season 2 ended earlier this year and so far there has been no sign of a cancellation or renewal. The season 2 finale was full of death and ended on a cliffhanger that may now remain unresolved (at least in the series).

The Halo series has already run for two seasons and 17 episodes since its debut in March 2022. It is based on the hit Bungie video game series that debuted on the original Xbox. The shooter franchise is set in the 26th century and follows the adventures of Master Chief, a genetically enhanced soldier who leads a team of Spartans against alien threats to humanity.

Fans of the games had very mixed feelings about the show, and especially how it portrayed Master Chief. But it overcame that rocky start and made it to the second season.

Steven Kane and Kyle Killen created the series, with David Wiener serving as showrunner and executive producer. The series stars Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief. The cast includes Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Natascha McElhone, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy and Jen Taylor.
