The football club’s mission is to make fans feel “valued”

A football club whose supporters had called for a change of ownership has introduced a new strategy to make fans feel “heard, valued and communicated with”.

In May, Swindon Town FC fans wrote an open letter to the club’s chairman, saying they had “lost confidence” in the leadership and calling for greater transparency.

Now, long-time supporter and ticketing director Vicki Eyles will take on the new role of Fan Engagement Officer.

The 27-year-old, who has been with the club since 2016, said: “This is something that is very close to my heart and I want to strengthen the bond between the club and our fans as we start the new season.”

After Swindon Town endured one of its worst seasons on the football pitch, Trust STFC – the official supporters’ organisation – called for significant investment and a turnaround plan following a survey of 2,000 fans.

The group expressed hope that the survey results would give management insight into how fans feel.

Mrs Eyles has been a season ticket holder since she was five years old and says she has already built up a trusting relationship with Swindon Town fans.

“As a long-time Swindon Town fan myself, this role gives me the perfect platform to share these ideas and bring us all closer together to succeed together,” said Ms Eyles.

“It’s important that we share the positive work that’s happening behind the scenes.”

She added that “exciting projects” will be launched in the future to help fans feel “closer” to the club.

CEO Anthony Hall said he was “delighted” that Ms Eyles had taken on the “important new role”.

“(Ms Eyles) is key for us to drive a robust fan engagement strategy in the upcoming 2024/25 season and beyond,” he said.

Supporters can contact Ms. Eyles with suggestions and questions.
