The Jacksonville Icemen continue to build their roster for the 2024-25 season after re-signing forward Chris Grando. Before turning pro, Grando spent five years at the NCAA level, including three years at Boston College and two years at Arizona State University, where he scored 26 goals and 38 assists for 64 points in 166 games and was part of the Eagles team that won the Hockey East regular season but lost to the Terriers in the semifinals. He spent two years with the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL, where he scored 22 goals and 32 assists for 54 points in 115 games.

The New York native joined the Icemen at the end of the 2022-23 season and scored four goals and five assists for nine points in 15 games, while in the 2023-24 season he scored 15 goals and 31 assists for 46 points in 61 games and won the team’s Rookie of the Year Award. In 84 regular season games with the Icemen, he scored 19 goals and 36 assists for 55 points and added a goal and two assists for two points in seven Kelly Cup playoff games. Grando has played with Icemen captain Chris Brown for five years and has already signed with the team for the 2024-25 season. The 25-year-old forward is the Icemen’s fourth signing and the fourth forward to sign with the team for the 2024-25 season. Since all of the signings so far are forwards, it will be interesting to see when the Icemen start building their defense.
