Phew, it’s still hot out there, guys. I’m at the point where all I want to do is lay in my bed next to my air conditioner and listen to audiobooks. I’m going to watch Chappell Roan this weekend (oh my god!!), which makes me wonder if I should do a new Book Radar summer playlist. It’s been a while since I’ve done one. Maybe on Monday? Let me know if you’re interested! But after Chappell Roan, I hope to spend the rest of the weekend reading. Ready to get yourself in the mood for some weekend reading? Let’s talk all things book-related.

Book Riot recommends

Hi, welcome to everyone’s favorite segment of Book Radar called Book Riot Recommends. Here I talk to you about all the books I’m reading, the books I love, and the books I’m dying to read and love in the near future. I think you’ll love them too!

I can barely wait for it!

The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones (S&S/Saga Press, March 18, 2025)

I love Stephen Graham Jones, but I just can’t keep up with him. He publishes books faster than I can read them. At the moment I am reading his latest I was a teenage slasher (which came out just this month) and the author is already releasing a new book in March next year. And this one is a big one at 496 pages. Of course, it’s still a must-read for me and I know I’m not alone.

In The Buffalo Hunter Hunter, Stephen Graham Jones takes his readers to the American West in 1912. When a Lutheran pastor’s diary is discovered hidden in a wall, details of the deaths of 217 Blackfeet Indians are revealed. The story is told through interviews with a strange character: Goodstab, a Blackfeet vampire who haunts the reservation seeking vengeance.

This book will be published by Simon & Schuster in March 2025. But if you are somehow up to date with your Stephen Graham Jones reading and need a little taster right away, People shared a short excerpt from the upcoming book. Enjoy!

Words of literary wisdom

“Some of us are so broken that we can’t be fixed. And maybe that’s for the best. We don’t hide from the damage like everyone else does. We just accept it and figure out how to deal with it.”

— Ghost Station by SA Barnes

And here is a cat picture!

With the weather we’re having right now, we leave the door open so the kitties can watch the tennis players across the street. In this picture, I think the boys are more interested in the birds nearby. But you know what keeps them busy.

And that’s all for today’s Book Radar, friends! I’ll be back on Monday with more book news!
