Israel’s war against Gaza live: Fate of hundreds of health workers in Gaza unknown | News on the Israel-Palestine conflict

Al Jazeera reports from outside Israel because the Israeli government has banned the channel.

The Israeli military said in a statement that it had approved new operational plans for an offensive in Lebanon and increased the readiness of its ground forces.

This came just hours after Hezbollah released a nearly 10-minute video showing its drones capturing multiple videos of areas in northern Israel, some of which are considered military targets such as army complexes and bases, as well as Iron Dome missile defense batteries.

It is worth noting that this does not necessarily represent a change in Israeli military policy.

We had heard this earlier this year and for months from Israeli security officials, such as Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi, who had declared that they were no longer on the defensive against Hezbollah, but on the offensive – meaning that they were actively pursuing targets in southern Lebanon and even further from Lebanon’s southern border.

They have been expressing this opinion for months.

However, the fact that Hezbollah was able to fly these drones over several areas in northern Israel, including Haifa – which is about 20 kilometers from Israel’s northern border – means that Israeli air defense systems were not activated. This certainly raises many questions within the Israeli security apparatus.

Nevertheless, both sides – Israel and Hezbollah – have declared that they are prepared for a full-scale war.
