War in Gaza Strip: Footage apparently shows Israeli attack on donkey cart pulling civilians

Footage posted on social media apparently showing an Israeli attack on a donkey cart carrying civilians in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip sparked outrage online.

The footage shows an aerial view of the attack, in which the passengers are hit but the donkey appears to be unharmed.

“And when we realized, after at least half an hour of surveillance, that they were not innocent civilians, they were eliminated – the donkey, of course, remained alive,” an Israeli voice can be heard over the footage.

Middle East Eye cannot independently verify the footage.

Since there is no fuel or ambulances in the Gaza Strip, Palestinians rely on donkey carts to get around or to transport the dead and injured.

Dozens of Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip in recent days, including 17 people killed on Tuesday in an attack near a camp site housing displaced people in the designated “safe” zone of al-Mawasi in Khan Younis.

The attack on al-Mawasi came after air strikes on a refugee camp in the same district last week killed at least 88 people and injured 289 others.

The United Nations said on Tuesday that last week was one of the deadliest in the Gaza Strip since the war began on October 7.
