Release date for Chris Evans and Dwayne Johnson’s Christmas film confirmed

Red One, the new Christmas film starring Chris Evans and Dwayne Johnson, has confirmed its release date.

According to Deadline, the festive action comedy will be released in cinemas on 15th of November, 2024A streaming date on Prime Video is to follow.

Details about the film’s plot are scarce so far, but it is described as a “global action-adventure comedy in four quadrants that imagines an entirely new universe to explore within the vacation genre.”

When production began on the Jake Kasdan-directed film last year, Johnson shared a social media post that read, “It’s starting to look a lot like CHRISTMAS. The official start of production on our CHRISTMAS franchise film called RED ONE starring my buddy @chrisevans.”

“Chris and I have been waiting our entire careers to make a Christmas movie, and now the trouble is finally starting,” he added.

Johnson had previously released a statement announcing the film, saying: “Hold my mana because this is exciting. Our Seven Bucks is very optimistic about our partnership with Amazon Studios; backed up with some innovation, some pioneering, and a lot of positive energy and passion.”

“I am very impressed with the vision and ambition of Jen Salke (Head of Amazon Studios) and her team to create a vast, entertaining and unique Red One holiday universe for families around the world to enjoy.”

“Red One is very special to me and a story I’ve wanted to tell for years,” added writer Hiram Garcia. “An epic, thrilling action adventure that turns popular holiday mythology on its head.”

In addition to Evans and Johnson, the film stars Lucy Liu, Kiernan Shipka, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, JK Simmons and Bonnie Hunt. The screenplay was written by Chris Morgan.

Red One is scheduled to be released on November 15, 2024.
