Ariana Grande responds to criticism of her voice change

ArianaGrande addresses the criticism of “the way” she speaks.

After a clip from her performance on Penn BadgleyPodcast by Podcrushed made the rounds online for drastically changing her pitch and speaking rhythm, Ariana took to TikTok on Tuesday to explain her rapid shift from a lower to a higher register.

“Habit (of speaking like this for two years) and also vocal health,” Ariana commented. “I intentionally change my vocal pitch (high/low) often depending on how much I sing.”

“I’ve always done it this way, BYE,” Ariana continued.

This may be the first time Ariana has offered clarification on this, but it is not the first time fans have noticed changes in her voice.

Criticism of a higher tone arose after she appeared at the Oscars 2024 alongside Evil Co-Star Cynthia Erivo in March. She also talked about how she changed her voice for the role of Glinda when she was a guest on The Zach Sang Show in February.

“I trained every day… to change my voice, even my singing voice. I had to deconstruct everything about myself to prove to them that I could compete with this other person,” Ariana said.
