Marvel officially announces the return of Iron Man in a new series

Our armored avenger is back!

Everyone’s favorite armored avenger returns with an all-new series from Pulitzer Prize winner Spencer Ackerman.

With the last issue of Invincible Iron Man Coming out just this week, it’s time for a new team to dive into the weird and wonderful world of Marvel’s Iron Man in an all-new comic book series.

Check out the trailer for Iron Man below!

Written by Spencer Ackerman (reign of terror; DCs Catfish vs Wildstorm) and the artist Julius Ohta (Hellverine, extraterrestrial) and is scheduled to be released in October. This new volume of Iron Man will take place after the events of Invincible Iron Man #20.

Iron Man #1 continues the story of the popular Tony Stark after he regains control of Stark Unlimited.

However, with threats looming from all sides, Tony must think back to the origins of the Iron Man suit and build the “improvised Iron Man”, a suit the likes of which hasn’t been seen in 60 years.

In addition, the series will reportedly also introduce a new Iron Monger, who apparently wears armor with mysterious powers.

The official synopsis reads: “After restoring his fortune, Tony’s first task is to get his company back out of the arms business.

But the board is more concerned with profit margins than superhero ethics. Stark Unlimited is for sale.

And the highest bidders are Tony’s two biggest competitors: Roxxon and AIM. New armor, old enemies and incredible twists.”

For Ackerman, working on an Iron Man series was a dream come true.

“Winning a Pulitzer Prize is cool and all, but it’s not like writing for Marvel Comics,” he said.

“And to write Iron Man a very special dream has come true.

Many of the best comic book writers have used Iron Man to tell great stories of safety and freedom – with plenty of superhero action, of course – and I can’t wait to continue their legacy.”
