VIDEO: Returning missionary gives Post Malone a Book of Mormon at the airport

ST. GEORGE, Utah (KSTU) — For 20-year-old Micah Hyde, it was a special homecoming last week.

Hyde returned home to St. George last Wednesday after serving two years as a missionary in Seattle for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

About 70-75 family members, friends and relatives were waiting for him at St. George Regional Airport.

However, there was one person Hyde had not counted on: one of Utah’s most famous residents, Post Malone.

“We went there and he said, ‘Oh my God, nice to meet you and welcome home,'” Hyde said.

Hyde elaborated on his encounter with the famous musician.

“You would never expect such a big celebrity to be there. Post Malone is a big name and he just flies out of St. George Airport on Delta,” Hyde said.

However, Hyde did not know before his arrival that his family had actually met Post Malone outside the airport.

While they were filming with their phones, Post Malone sent Hyde the following message: “Say hi to Micah for me.”

That was the news that Hyde was delighted to see when he arrived just before 3pm last Wednesday.

“This is a joke, this is crazy,” Hyde said after seeing the news.

However, Hyde said one of his friends informed him that Post Malone was still at the airport after his arrival.

“He just comes over and hugs me, which is super cool. He called me by my name,” Hyde said. “He was like, ‘Micah, nice to meet you!’ I was like, ‘Oh my goodness, you remember my name.'”

Although the interaction was exciting enough, Hyde also wanted to leave Post Malone with something that was close to his heart.

“I have a Book of Mormon and all my friends were saying, ‘You have to give this to him.’ So I ran over and grabbed it. Then I pulled him out of security to give him the Book of Mormon,” Hyde said. “I told him, ‘This is the best book in the world. It will change your life.'”

It was a moment his younger brother Brock would not soon forget.

“It was really cool to see him give him the Book of Mormon because it’s just an important part of our family and our Church,” Brock said.

The same went for everyone who was there to welcome Hyde home.

“We joked that this is the best homecoming I’ve ever had,” Hyde said. “I just love that Post Malone took the time to talk to us.”

Micah told FOX 13 News on Tuesday that if everyone took one thing away from his interactions with Post Malone last week, it was the importance of just being nice to everyone.

Meeting Post Malone also inspired Hyde to create and sell “Best Book in the World” merchandise, which can be found at bestbookintheworld.printify.me.
