Kin Faux rocks the Whiskey River Country Club on July 20th

Kin Faux, from San Antonio, Texas, is known for their dynamic performances and unique blend of Texas/Red Dirt Country. Influenced by legendary artists such as Charlie Daniels, Alabama and Restless Heart, the band showcases virtuoso fiddle playing, powerful vocal harmonies, blistering guitar work and a thunderous rhythm section.

The band’s roots go back to the decaying auto factories of Michigan, where their music reflects the authenticity and desperation of traditional American folklore. Because of this particular background, their music was nicknamed “Industrial Dirt.” Kin Faux’s journey began when Texan native Rico Gonzalez moved to Michigan in 2015 and connected with Dan Currier through a country band. When their paths crossed with Jakey Black IX and Ross Barkey, the experimental side project Kin Faux was born, inspired by the music of Texas/Red Dirt.

Kin Faux quickly made a name for themselves in Michigan, earning accolades such as Review Magazine’s Best Country Band and Best Country Music Artist in 2018. Their debut EP, recorded at Nashville’s Mainframe Studios and produced by Bobby Randall, received rave reviews and led to extensive touring throughout the Midwest and Texas.

Her hit single “Teardrops on the Rocks” reached No. 20 on the Texas charts in 2019, followed by “Locked Up in Lubbock” in 2020 and her breakthrough No. 1 hit “Honky Tonk in Heaven” in 2021. The success of her album Honky Tonk in Heaven Kin Faux cemented their place as a mainstay on the Texas music charts and earned them several awards from the Texas Country Music Association and Texas Regional Radio.

In 2023 they released their latest album, Cheaper than the truthwith chart-topping singles “Grain of Salt” and “Sunny and 72”. The band continues to grow, with exciting new music and extensive touring planned for 2024.
