Brother of murdered mother Rachel Morin from Maryland speaks at RNC: “His sister’s death could have been prevented”

BALTIMORE – The brother of murdered Maryland mother Rachel Morin spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Tuesday.

Morin, a mother of five children, was found raped and murdered along the Ma & Pa Trail in Harford County in August 2023.

“Where we pushed our babies in strollers, where we walked together as a family, where my wife and I got married, near where my sister’s body was later found,” said Michael Morin, Rachel Morin’s brother.

Rachel Morin’s suspected killer, Victor Martinez Hernandez, who police said was in the country illegally, was arrested in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and extradited to Maryland.

The focus of Tuesday’s RNC was on security, with particular attention on the Biden administration and whether adequate security measures were in place.

According to law enforcement, Martinez Hernandez left El Salvador in February 2023 after being wanted for murder, six months before Morin’s alleged killing.

“Rachel, a cheerful, successful athlete and mother of five, was raped and murdered by a suspected illegal immigrant,” said Michael Morin. “My sister’s death could have been prevented.”

Michael Morin blamed President Biden’s immigration policies for his sister’s murder.

He told those present at the RNC that Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump will provide real leadership in the White House, secure the border and prevent a death like his sister’s in the future.

“This has been described as one of the most brutal and violent crimes ever committed in the history of Harford County, Maryland,” said Michael Morin.
