Taylor County Police are searching for an escaped inmate. See what happened

TCSO PRESS RELEASE:

On July 16, 2024, Taylor County Inmate Administrator Ricky Dale Foskey (age 44) was under the supervision of Corrections Officer Mike Strickland. Foskey was recently sentenced to serve a two-year sentence in the Taylor County Jail. Foskey exited a portable building near the Taylor County Jail. Officer Strickland and Foskey had been working at different locations in the county.

At approximately 9:00 p.m., Sergeant Strickland and Foskey returned to a portable building near the Taylor County Jail. While Sergeant Strickland completed his work and prepared to return Foskey to the custody of the jail, Foskey fled the scene on foot.

Sheriff Padgett said, “Foskey was part of the Inmate Alternative to Prison Program that I created to assist inmates and prevent them from continuing their lives of crime. During my tenure, we have assisted several individuals and helped them become productive members of the community. Inmates are responsible for their own actions; however, I am committed to complete transparency and accept full accountability. That is where the accountability ends.”

Sergeant Strickland has been placed on leave pending an internal investigation into the incident. While it is not uncommon for inmates to be assigned to local government and non-profit organizations after hours, the release and return of inmates is currently under review. An arrest warrant has been issued for Ricky Dale Foskey for escape. Local law enforcement is actively searching for Foskey and a reward has been offered for information leading to Foskey’s arrest.
