Terrell Davis considers legal action against United Airlines

United Airlines has apologized to Hall of Fame running back Terrell Davis after he was kicked off a plane in handcuffs. Will that be enough to appease Davis?

Davis, his wife and his attorney appeared on CBS’s “Good Mornings” on Wednesday to discuss the incident, which he described as “disgusting display of injustice.” His lawyer, Parker Stinar, said legal action was being considered.

“They need to be held accountable,” Stinar said. “We would like to see a change in policy. We think that’s very important, starting with a sincere, genuine apology.”

Davis and his wife, Tamiko, were flying with their three children from Denver to Orange County, California, for a family vacation at Disneyland. Davis said when he tapped a flight attendant’s arm to get her attention, The flight attendant accused Davis to beat him.

After landing, police officers entered the plane to handcuff Davis and remove him from the aircraft.

“In that moment, I felt all my dignity. I felt powerless. I was ashamed,” Davis told Gayle King.

Stinar said questioning of Davis and other passengers convinced law enforcement that the flight attendant’s testimony was false or misleading.

“The problem is that the scars and trauma that this family has endured will forever mark this family,” Stinar told King. “Equally important, we have heard from dozens of other United passengers who have experienced similar things, and unfortunately I don’t know why that happened to Mr. Davis, because most of those people are not handcuffed.”

United has suspended the flight attendant pending further investigation.

Davis, 51, played his entire seven-year career in Denver and was the 1998 NFL MVP and MVP of Super Bowl XXXII.
