Death of Matthew Perry: Police ‘on the hunt’ for unnamed female celebrity | Hollywood

Matthew Perry, the legendary “Friends” star, died last year at the age of 54 from the “acute effects of the drug ketamine,” according to his autopsy report.

The autopsy report revealed that Perry was undergoing ketamine therapy for depression, but noted that the ketamine in his body at the time of his death could not have come from his prescribed treatment due to the drug’s short half-life. This led investigators to suspect that Perry had received the fatal dose from another source.

The late actor had a serious drinking and drug problem, but had apparently been sober for 19 months before his drowning. Perry was not shy about his substance abuse disorder, which he battled throughout his time on TV and even on the show. He spoke about heavy drinking and opioid use, especially after taking Vicodin, a prescription he got after a jet ski accident in 1997.

Following Perry’s untimely death, police launched an investigation into another celebrity who had entered rehab with him. The LAPD launched a criminal investigation in May in conjunction with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service. That investigation involved Perry’s death on October 28, 2023, at his LA home, where he was found naked and unconscious in a hot tub.

The unnamed celebrity “gave up everything and was completely cooperative”

“They were basically on the hunt for Matthew’s killer,” an insider told In Touch. The source added that a woman, a celebrity herself, who Perry met in rehab was brought in for questioning. “She’s a celebrity herself and they met in rehab. They struck up an unexpected friendship,” the source added.

And the police showed up at the unknown celebrity’s door, suspecting something. When police arrived at her home with a search warrant, the anonymous celebrity was working out. When she returned, she was reportedly “in complete shock and had no idea what the search warrant was about.” (In Touch has chosen not to reveal the celebrity’s identity due to the ongoing investigation.)

“She insists she had nothing to do with (Perry’s death),” the insider told In Touch.

“She kept quiet about the situation. But the investigators must have known something to get an arrest warrant and show up like that.”

The unnamed celebrity cooperated fully with police and was neither handcuffed nor arrested. “She disclosed everything and was completely cooperative,” the insider added.

The exact reason for the police search is still unclear, but it is related to the investigation into how Perry obtained the drugs that led to his death.
