FX’s “Alien” series gets official title

FX’s upcoming “Alien” series has a new title, according to network chief John Langraf and showrunner Noah Hawley: “Alien: Earth.”

“We just finished production, so I’m now on the long post that deals with visual effects,” said Hawley diversity while discussing the Emmy nominations for “Fargo,” his other FX series.

“It’s a very big show. It’s nice to spend some time with it,” he continued. “In the first year of anything, you want to feel like you’re not pressed against a wall in terms of time. I’ve seen four of the eight hours of director’s cuts and have been engaged in the process of figuring out what it wants to be cinematically. That’s one of my favorite parts of producing a show.”

In an interview about “Fargo,” “The Bear,” “Shogun” and FX’s other Emmy-nominated series, Landgraf said he is already thinking about the series’ future.

“We’re pretty optimistic about ‘Alien: Earth,’ and we’ve told him that assuming, as we hope, that ‘Alien: Earth’ continues as a television series, he should focus on that before turning to a possible sixth season of ‘Fargo,'” he said.

“Alien: Earth” is a prequel to Ridley Scott’s 1979 film “Alien,” which marked the beginning of a series that now includes eight films. In addition to Hawley’s series, a new film called “Alien: Romulus” is set to premiere later this summer.

The prequel series stars Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, David Rysdahl, Samuel Blenkin, Adarsh Gourav, Babou Ceesay, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diêm Camille and Adrian Edmondson.
