Slash’s first SERPENT festival promises to be a star-studded event. In the weeks since the tour began on July 5, several legendary musicians have joined the Guns N’ Roses guitarist on stage. Recent guests include Chris Robinson of The Black Crowes, Les Stroud, Eric Gales, Samantha Fish and a continuation of performances by Warren Haynes.

On Saturday, July 13, Slash brought Robinson to LA to perform a version of “The Pusher,” a new classic on the tour setlist. Robinson revived the signature Hoyt Axton cover with full, bouncy vocals and an even wilder stage presence, driving the rhythmic performance with a dynamic harmonica solo midway through the song. Robinson’s performance of “The Pusher” with Slash and his blues band – consisting of Tash Neal on guitar, Johnny Griparic on bass, Teddy “ZigZag” Andreadis on keyboards and Michael Jerome on drums – follows their studio version of the same song, which was released earlier this year on Slash’s Orgy of the damned.

The following night, Haynes joined Slash on stage in Tucson, Arizona, for a few songs. Notable collaborations at the Grand Canyon State event included a Haynes-Slash rendition of Freddie King’s “Bigg Legged Woman,” followed by a live premiere of Don Nix’s “Going Down” with Fish and Gales to close the evening. Fish and Gales also joined Slash and his band for two numbers, “Key to the Highway” and “Stone Free,” earlier in the July 14 edition of the “blues extravaganza.”

The SERPENT (Solidarity, Engagement, Restore, Peace, Equality N’ Tolerance) Festival continues tonight, July 17, at Denver’s Mission Ballroom, with performances by Keb’ Mo’, Samantha Fish and Jackie Venson. For SERPENT tickets and more information, visit https://www.serpentfestival.com/tour.
