Voice actors of all main characters in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail

Voice actors of all main characters in Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail

Dawntrail is the latest expansion in Final Fantasy 14’s long line of major expansions. Set after the pivotal events of Endwalker, Dawntrail forges a new path for an MMO that has wrapped up many story elements introduced so far – some of which go back to FF14 1.0. That’s a blast, and means Dawntrail has a lot of work ahead of it to set things up for years to come.

A few things to keep in mind before you start your Dawntrail journey!

Below you’ll find a list of voice actors who bring several of Dawntrail’s main characters to life, rising to this lofty task and filling the world of Hydaelyn with fascinating new faces and ever-richer lore.

Wuk Lamat – Sena Bryer

Wuk Lamat in Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail.

Wuk Lamat plays such a crucial role in the events of Dawntrail that she effectively displaces the Warrior of Light. Her journey is a hero’s journey, while our player-controlled protagonist’s journey to heroism is long behind him and he now stands like a giant next to Wuk Lamat.

Sena Bryer is the voice actress for Wuk Lamat. Currently, Sena’s voice acting credits are a little low at 26; she first appeared on IMDb in 2021, so expect plenty of entries in the coming years. Her notable roles include Gloucester in Vanillaware’s new strategy RPG Unicorn Overlord, Tomoari in the 2022 anime film Inu-oh, and Nix, Iss, and Fortune Teller in a stylish new game called Cryptmaster.

Additionally, Sena Bryer is a prolific author. According to her website, her debut series is a three-novel sci-fi/fantasy story called Dreambound, which was adapted as an audio drama. Sena has also written an indie adventure game called Your Royal Gayness (2018), as well as a VR horror/puzzle game called Hello Cruel World, which is set to launch on August 1, 2024.

Krile Baldesion – Gemma Lawrence

Krile from Final Fantasy 14

Krile Baldesion has been in Final Fantasy 14 since Heavensward. Heck, Minfilia even mentioned her by name a few times in A Realm Reborn. Only now, in Dawntrail, has Krile gone from being a perpetual supporting character to a full-fledged heroine, and voice actress Gemma Lawrence has been with the Lalafell prodigy every step of the way.

Lawrence is the author of at least three plays: Sunnymead Court, REWILD and Clown Crown Baby. She has performed in several plays for the National Theatre, Shakespeare’s Globe and the Orange Tree Theatre. She is also a drama teacher.

As a voice actress, Lawrence is… well, she’s Krile. And Puddingway in Endwalker, whatever that means. Gemma Lawrence is actually quite a busy person; you could say she’s just dipping her toe into the voice acting business, were it not for the sheer number of lines she must have spoken for Krile since she appeared in Idyllshire in 2015!

Bakool Yes Yes – Javier Prusky

Bakool Ja Ja on a sunny day in Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail.

Bakool Ja Ja has received an… interesting reception. If you read any article about the voice actors of Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail, you’ve probably heard how some fans have been pining for this unlikely candidate for affection and more. Voice actor Javier Prusky must be having a lot of fun with it.

Javier Prusky has made guest appearances on a number of television series, including 2016’s Kaleidoscope as Brody. He plays Albert Wrangle in an episode of Fatal Attraction, Pete Quintero in Homicide Hunter, Julian in the excellent Halt and Catch Fire, Fred in Grace and Frankie, and more. More recently, Prusky has had longer roles in Love Spells and How to Survive Being Single.

Video game fans may recognize Prusky’s voice from the Audible-exclusive podcast Far Cry: Rise of the Revolution, Los Locos in the 2022 FPS Ready or Not, or even from one of several unnamed supporting roles in Fallout 76: Expeditions – The Pitt.

Sphene – Sara Ovens

Queen Sphene introduces herself to the Scions and Wuk Lamat in FF14 Dawntrail

The voice of Queen of Reason, Sphene of Alexandria, is provided by Sara Ovens. In her gaming career, Ovens has played the roles of Kjera and Gitano in Arknights, as well as Zenkibo Tengu in Aether Gazer. Both games are mobile RPGs; the first game is more strategic, while the second is more action-oriented.

There are many difficult trials in FF14. These are among the hardest.

Sara Ovens has appeared as a guest in numerous podcast series. In Doctor Who: The Novel Adaptation, Ovens played Cell. Also set in the Whoverse, Ovens played Kate in Torchwood: Monthly Range. And in The Confessions of Dorian Gray, Ovens took on the role of Teddy Quigley.

Erenville in Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail.

When Erenville was introduced in Endwalker, there was always a feeling that he was destined for something bigger. Well, we’ve arrived at bigger things. In Dawntrail, Erenville takes center stage, trumping iconic faces like Alphinaud and Alisaie in terms of total screen time.

You’d think that Erenville’s voice actor, Ari Oskarsson, would be far more prolific. We thought so too. Coincidentally, his only other credits on IMDb are additional voices in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, its Dawn of Ragnarok DLC, and Discovery Tour: Viking Age.

Ari, if for some reason you happen to be reading this, we hope to hear more from you!

Koana – Luis Bermudez

Koana in Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail.

The accomplished student Koana, a die-hard Sharlayan like any Scion (and still a prince!), has a certain adjustment period ahead of him during Dawntrail. Not so, however, his experienced voice actor Luis Bermudez, whose voice has been heard by millions since his career got off to a big start in 2014 in Smite, where he played the roles of Chiron, Chaac and Tacosura.

Bermudez provides the lines of several Peacekeepers in Master Detective Archives: Rain Code, Baranov in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (2023), Blanka in Street Fighter 6, and background characters in the single-player counterparts of Final Fantasy 14, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, and Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunion.

Fans of dubbed anime have surely heard Bermudez before, be it as Hendrix, Ray and Maximilian in Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway, Fuuga in Number 24, Lestrade in Lupin 3 – Part 6, Ranzo in Beyblade Burst and Beyblade Burst QuadDive, or in one of Bermudez’s dozens of other roles.

Gulool Ja Ja – Ulysses Cuadra

Gulool Yes Yes in Final Fantasy 14 Dawntrail.

Gulool Ja Ja is not quite as fandom-dominant as Bakool Ja Ja, but is still a central Dawntrail character. His voice actor is Ulysses Cuadra. Cuadra began his career in an episode of ER in 1997, when he was just ten years old. His longest TV roles are the adaptation of Clifford the Big Red Dog (2000-2003), where he played both Vaz and Jetta, and Twister Rodriguez in Rocket Power (1998-2004).

Cuadra’s video game appearances are few and far between, but we hope his performance in Dawntrail gets him further. He’s Javier Hidalgo in Resident Evil: The Darksider Chronicles, a background voice of sorts in Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D, and a background voice again in Juutekki (localized as Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor).
