Chris Olave’s 53-yard touchdown catch is the Saints’ play of the day

There are 53 days left until the start of the New Orleans Saints’ 2024 regular season, which makes Chris Olave’s 53-yard touchdown reception against the Los Angeles Rams our Saints play of the day. Olave was a key contributor for the Saints in 2022, making one of the best plays of his rookie season with Andy Dalton at quarterback.

This isn’t the only 53-yard touchdown the Saints have scored in their entire team history – they’ve done it five times, if you’re counting – but it’s arguably the most impactful. The Rams had taken a 14-10 lead before halftime, but the Saints caught up. Jarvis Landry capped a scoring drive with a touchdown catch. Then Olave extended the lead with this dive into the end zone.

And this remains the longest play of Olave’s career. He did it all for the Saints early in his professional career with two consecutive 1,000-yard seasons, and the hope is that Klint Kubiak’s new offense will showcase his abilities even further. He is already on the verge of becoming one of the top 15 wide receivers in the league, and more big plays like this will only strengthen his reputation.
